Active Schools Week Day 4 marked the much anticipated arrival of the annual Teachers v Pupils challenge. This year we decided to hold a number of doubles badminton matches between the teachers and 6th class. After a number of closely fought games it was all square in the standings. There was no other option but to hold a tie breaker! In the end the 6th class took the win much to the delight of the pupils who had done so well in creating an electric atmosphere!
To finish the day we were delighted to take delivery of our Active Schools Flag on successful completion of the 2 year programme. Our ASF status will remain valid for 3 years. In the interim years between flags schools with ASF status are asked to:
- Prioritise a different PE strand for further development every year.
- Participate in annual ASF initiatives including the ‘Active Break Every Day’ and ‘Run a Day’ challenges.
- Active School Week
- Promote the use of the Active School Walkway throughout the year.
- Update the ASF section on the school website on a regular basis.
We look forward to meeting these challenges over the next number of years.
Thank you very much to Mr Hanly and Mr Hardiman for overseeing this worthwhile initiative.
